The trip

A night in the fog, and a seat home after

Halloween Horror Nights turns Universal Studios Florida into a night of haunted houses, scare zones and live shows. It started in 1991 as three nights and a single haunted house. This is its 35th year, with ten new houses, four scare zones and a show out on the lagoon.

Universal says the event ends late, and Orlando is four hours from Tallahassee. That is a long drive home at the end of a night spent screaming. So we drive it. The van leaves Tallahassee in the afternoon, drops you at Universal, and comes back for you at the end of the night.

A seat on the van is not a Horror Nights ticket. What we sell is the ride: we pick you up in Tallahassee, drop you at Universal, and bring you home at the end of the night. Horror Nights needs its own event ticket, separate from a daytime park ticket, and that is between you and Universal.

Universal also says the event may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for anyone under 13. Read its guide before you bring someone younger.

Two things to check before you book a seat: that you have your Horror Nights ticket, and that it is for the night this van runs.

How it goes

Getting on. Be at your pickup a few minutes early. The van leaves on time and does not come back for a second run.

At Universal. The van drops you at the resort. Your event ticket is your own to buy; we only drive. Costumes and costume masks are not allowed on event nights, so come as yourself.

Coming home. Closing time changes from night to night, so go by your booking, not the park. The van waits for you where it dropped you, at the time on your booking. Put that time in your phone before the first house.
