The trip

Bike Week on Main Street, with a driver both ways

Daytona Beach Bike Week is one of the world's largest motorcycle events, a ten-day rally that opens the riding season, and this is the 86th. Main Street is the place to see and be seen. Midtown has live music and food vendors, and Harley-Davidson brings its newest bikes and a ride-in bike show. From there the rally spreads to the speedway, Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach, the Boardwalk bike show and along the coast on A1A.

Tallahassee is about four hours away, and not everyone wants to ride that, or has a bike to ride. So the van does the miles. It takes you to Main Street, you stay the night, and it brings you home the next day.

Before you go

Buy the ride here. Each event sets its own admission.

Your van seat covers the ride: pickup in Tallahassee, drop-off on Main Street, and the trip home the next day. It is not a ticket to anything at the rally.

Bike Week happens all over the Daytona Beach area, and each event has its own terms. At the speedway, the motorcycle marketplace with free demo rides is open daily and, in the speedway's words, free to the public. Supercross and the Daytona 200 at the speedway are ticketed. The official calendar lists the rest.

The weekend

How it goes

Getting on. Get to your pickup a few minutes early. The van keeps to the time on your booking and will not come round again.

On Main Street. You are dropped on Main Street, and the rally is yours. Anywhere else you want to go, Midtown or the speedway or up the coast, is yours to get to.

The night. Booking a place to stay is up to you. There is no pickup that night: the van comes back for you the next day at the time on your booking.

Coming home. Set a reminder for that time and be ready when it comes. The ride back is somebody else's job.
