The trip

The Great American Race, and a night in Daytona

The Daytona 500 is the race the rest of Speedweeks builds up to: 200 laps on the high banks, and this is its 69th running. The Clash, qualifying, the Duels and the support races all come first, and the week ends here.

It is a full day at the track, and Daytona is about four hours from Tallahassee, so this trip does not try to do it all at once. The van takes you down on race day, drops you at the speedway, and comes back for you the next day. You spend the night in Daytona instead of on the interstate.

Two tickets

We sell a seat in the van, not a seat in the grandstand. The ride gets you to the speedway and home again; the race ticket comes from Daytona International Speedway.

The speedway sells the 500 as a single day, or in two-day and four-day packages with more of Speedweeks. It also says every guest needs a reserved seat for the 500, whatever their age, so buy one for everyone in your group.

Race day

How it goes

Getting on. Be at your pickup a little early. The van leaves at the time on your booking and does not circle back.

At the speedway. You are dropped at the track. We only drive; your race ticket is between you and the speedway, and its fan guide says what you can bring inside.

The night. Where you stay is yours to book. The van does not come back for you after the race. It comes back the next day, at the time on your booking.

Coming home. Be ready at that time with your bags. About four hours later you are back in Tallahassee, and you did not drive a mile of it.
