The trip

The Blue Angels over the Gulf. Someone else parks.

The Blue Angels are the U.S. Navy's flight demonstration squadron, formed in 1946 and stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola for the show season. Each July they give Pensacola Beach four days: an arrival, a practice, a full dress rehearsal, then the official show, with civilian aerobatic acts in the sky before them. The van runs on show day.

Pensacola Beach's own advice for that day is to arrive early, really early. The Casino Beach lot fills in the early morning, and the traffic over the bridge can take hours. So we drive it. You sit back on the way, the driver deals with the bridge and the parking, and the van brings you home after the show. Nine seats, one driver, and no ticket to buy.

0 of 9 seats booked. 4 more seats and the van runs.

A seat is $55.00. Pay now, and if the van does not fill, every cent comes back. It leaves in 305 days.

The team, in its own pictures

The Blue Angels keep their own gallery of photos and video, and Pensacola Beach's Facebook is where the island authority posts its news.

No ticket needed

Buy the ride here. The show is free.

There are no admission tickets for the Pensacola Beach Air Show. You watch from the sand. Casino Beach is show center, where the big maneuvers happen, and the island authority says the prime spot is just east of the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier. What we sell is the ride: from Tallahassee to the beach, and home again the same day.

A few rules from the organisers for the day: no glass on the beach, no drones and no kites, and the water is closed while the planes are flying.

The day

How it goes

Getting on. Be at your pickup a few minutes early. It is three hours to the beach, the van leaves on time, and it does not come back for a second run.

  • FSU Union
  • Governor's Square Mall

On the beach. You are dropped at Pensacola Beach, and the day on the sand is yours. The island authority's list is plenty of water, snacks, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Leave the glass at home.

Coming home. The van is at the same spot at the time on your booking. Put that time in your phone before the jets arrive.
